Well, I have the problem half solved.....
It seems that it is not sufficient to have the libraries in
/usr/local/lib. They had to be in /usr/lib/sane.
So, I have scanning working on one of two systems now.
Now I am left with the issue that somethings work on one system but
refuse to work on the other.
Both systems are Red Hat Enterprise Linux V4. But, they could be
differences that I can't seem to pin down.
One system (the non working one) is a real system. The other is a
virtual system under VMware.
Anyway, anyone have any clues as to how to track this down? I was
hoping that something as simple as "scanimage --verbose -L" would show
something...but no.
Thanks,
Ed
