Hi everyone,

I am still having problems with an Officejet 1770c on Dapper. There are 2
problems:

1. After default install of hplip 1.6.6 I get the text "unable to open the
initial device, quiting". See below for full problem. I can get round the
problem by changing device from parport to lpt, but then hp-toolbox does
not work

2. Scanning - always had a problem in Ubuntu (breezy and dapper). I was
running Suse 9.3 before and there was not a problem. Ubuntu would not see
a scanner and dapper sees the scanner but hangs any app that tries to scan.

Many thanks in advance for your help

Regards

Dan

When I run hp-setup -a a page is printed with one line of text "Unable to
open the initial device, quitting."

Using gnome printer manager a right click and properties on the printer is
very slow (about 2 minutes) and shows CPU usage at 100%. I have
reinstalled cleanly twice.

The job is left in the queue with status Stopped

The output from hp-setup -a
