Remainder snipped
---------------------------

As a less with-it Newbie, I have made do with the CUPS and HPLIP
packages supplied by Debian Sarge.

These appear to be adequate to use my recently-purchased HP DeskJet
3940 for printing text.

The supplied version of gimp-print (4.2.7-10) posts similar
defaults for my setup - e.g.

Printer Model: Post Script Level 2
Command: lp -s -ddeskjet_3900 -oraw
PPD File: Currently no entry -(the following file exists:
                                /etc/cups/ppd/deskjet_3900.ppd).

Will the same suggested remedy help in my case?

If not, what else needs fixing?

All advice will be gratefully received.
