I just tested an HP LaserJet 3050 and 3055 on Suse 10.1 and they both work with no problems.

Check this page:

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/troubleshooting/io.html

Run "lsmod | grep usb" and post the output.

You can also try power cycling the printer and possibly updating the printer firmware from hp's website.

Hi Aaron,

I changed the usb cable with a one that was used on
another box. Still i have the same issue. Really
puzzled. What could be the problem. When i do a
usbview it puts out an error. Which is
"Can not open the file /proc/bus/usb/devices
Verify that you have USB compiled in to your kernel,
Have the usb modules loaded, and have the usbdevfs
filesystem mounted."

That is HP DC7600 PC which i'm using a usb mouse also.
But the system says there is a problem with usb when
the printer is connected only. I use it with a
portable usb harddisks also.

Thanks...please help me...and help me soon.

Thanks

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the fast response. No i'm not using a
USB
hub. Is there a specific cable which i have to use
with this device?

Are you using a usb hub? If so remove it and
connect directly to the computer. Also if possible try a different usb
cable.
