HPLIP 1.6.6a packages built for Suse Linux 10.0 and 10.1 for 32-bit Intel compatible (i586) and for 64-bit AMD (x86_64) are available for testing (and only for testing) at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/jsmeix/unsupported/hplip/ There are incompatibilities with our official HPLIP packages in Suse Linux 10.0 and 10.1. Be prepared that your existing configuration may no longer work with the new packages and/or that there may be no YaST support for the new packages, see for example https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=184798 Note the "unsupported" and read the README: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/jsmeix/unsupported/hplip/10.0/RPMS/README ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/jsmeix/unsupported/hplip/10.1/RPMS/README > But when i try to > add the printer from another machine directly using > the command hp-setup 192.168.1.1(which is the machine > the printer is set up). It says > > # hp-setup 192.168.1.1 ... > error: No devices found. The HPLIP documentation ("Installation - Step 4 - hp-setup - Network" in .../hplip/install/step4/setup/net.html) reads: -------------------------------------------------------------- hp-setup <ip address of printer> -------------------------------------------------------------- and not "hp-setup <ip address of another host>". Does your 3055 MFP have a built-in network card? If not, see http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell in partiular the "Configuring CUPS in the Network" section. For HP: There is a copy and paste error in the above documentation because it reads "7. Enter this command to add your USB or Parallel printer ... hp-setup <ip address of printer>" It should be something like "7. Enter this command to add your network printer ..."
