cupsext is a C program that extends Python. Its built and installed during 'make' and 'make install'. One of these commands must not of worked properly. Can you please go back and re-run 'make' and 'make install' and carefully look for any errors? The most likely problem is that you do not have cups-devel installed and this module failed to build (and install).

Thanks,

Don

Hello,

My system is a x86 with linux (slackware) with a 5440 HP printer connected by
USB.
I have downloaded hplip-1.6.7 software then I have built and installed it
without errors.

But when I run hp-check program I have the following output:

The "/usr/local/share/hplip/prnt/cups.py" file exists, why hplip cannot load
cupsext module??

My printer use USB connection and parallel-port module is optional one, so the
warning message is less important. But I have the parallel module compiled as
module, why hplip cannot find it??

I have looked for a solution into the "troubleshouting" area, and using google,
without success.

Thank you, for your help and your time.
