Thanks for the reply. Now I'm showing my naivety with Linux, but I can't find hp-check:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hp-check bash: hp-check: command not found [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo hp-check Password: sudo: hp-check: command not found [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ locate hp-check [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ Also, my printer has stopped working. It had been a number of days, perhaps a week, since I tried printing. It was working perfectly as far as I could tell before, and then yesterday I tried to print and it didn't work. Some output: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lpc lpc> status HP_LaserJet_3052_192.168.1.101: printer is on device 'socket' speed -1 queuing is enabled printing is enabled 3 entries daemon present Stylus-Color-740: printer is on device 'usb' speed -1 queuing is enabled printing is enabled no entries daemon present (The HP printer is the one I am concerned with. The 740 is my old printer, which worked fine, but which is not connected right now.) Thanks for your help.
