Thanks Aaron,

I found there were 2 printers configured, one was added automatically by HAL, so I deleted it which just left me with the one configured by "hp-setup".

When I tried the "hp-testpage" I still didnt get any response from the printer. The log file now looks like:
Jan 9 09:13:11 localhost hpiod: 1.6.10 accepting connections at 2208...
Jan 9 09:13:38 localhost hpiod: invalid device descriptor:1 io/hpiod/system.cpp 1341 Jan 9 09:13:38 localhost hpiod: invalid device descriptor:1 io/hpiod/system.cpp 1341 Jan 9 09:13:38 localhost python: hpssd[28428] error: String query failed for id 0 Jan 9 09:13:38 localhost python: hp-testpage[28452]: note: If an error occured, or the test page failed to print, refer to the HPLIP website Jan 9 09:13:38 localhost python: hp-testpage[28452]: note: at: http://hplip.sourceforge.net for troubleshooting and support.

I ran a "hp-check" but it all seemed ok, Any idea what I'm missing ?

Tim.

The printer is using the incorrect printer backend

hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_3f0_4f11_CN67EDF6YJ04B2_if1_printer_CN67EDF6YJ04B2

should be hp:/, etc.not hal:///.

If possible delete the printer and run hp-setup to configure the printer.

Hi Folks,

Got my new HP5610 today and stabbed it in, I was stoked to see HP
leading the way with drivers ready to go!

I'm running Fedora Core 6 here, and currently have hplip 1.6.10
installed. I kicked off "hp-setup" and it seemed to find my unit, and I
went through configuring it, got to the end without any errors, said
print a test page, but nothing came out.

So I checked the /var/log/messages file and saw this:
Jan 8 22:59:07 localhost python: hpssd[16419]: warning: Inrecognized

Any ideas ? I saw some instructions about mapping up a port or something
for the device ? or I noticed theres a new version of HPLIP ?

I kinda hate custom-building stuff, so I'm hesitant to download and
build up the new version, I'd much prefer to get a nice RPM for it when
its ready.

Any thoughts/hints would be appreciated.

Tim.
