Hallo, I was trying to install HPLIP 1.6.12 on mandriva 2007, and I has no success. At the place you write in your (very helpful, thanks for it) installation instructions:
"Note If the installer seems to pause for a long time hit enter or tab then enter enter several times. or if you get a blank line--enter your root password and hit enter. This is being looked into and should be fixed in a future release." nothing happens, when I tried to follow this tips, and entered enter or tab and then enter. I found no possibility to enter anything. I also tried the manual installation. There was a stopp at the place you have to enter "make", and that dont works also. Now I want to ask, if there are other possibilities to let the process continue, or when, do you think, there will be a new release in future? I ask, because my hp printer takes very long time to start printing in the version installed from dvd. it's Hplip 1.6.9-1. The older version ( I don't know the number) in mandriva limited 2005 was much faster. Had I to wait about half a minute with mdv 2005, it's now about 1,5 to 2 minutes with mdv 2007, by jobs with colored graphics sometimes much lomger. I was looking for help in mailing lists and other places in internet, but without success. Perhaps you can help me?
