That's great. Many thanks for your help. After reading some more, I have decided that I should probably buy the OfficeJet 7410 (since I would like built in duplex support). This is listed at http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/combined.html (although it is not mentioned at http://openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi?make=HP ). Incidentally, the specification at http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/18972-238444-410635-12019-f51-391193.html does not list Linux as a supported operating system. I came across hplip rather by accident as a result of browsing through the documentation at http://en.opensuse.org/Printer_buying_guide#HP_Inkjet_Project Perhaps the Linux support could be publicised by HP some more at its site?
