I wanted to report a bug for the HPLIP 1.7.1 installation script. It
appears that on my system (Ubuntu 6.10) that during the install script at
the point where it needs to download several dependencies, it needs to
download "build-essentials". Now apparently my sources list was still set
to get packages from the CD and since there was no prompt for me to insert
the CD when it needed to download "build essentials". Since the script
needed me to insert the CD and I was not aware that I needed to it
essentialy hung there waiting for the CD. So only after stopping the
install script and manually typing "sudo apt-get install build-essentials"
did I realize that it needed to have the CD to download. After I got that
sorted out I ran the script and installed the HPLIP drivers with no problem
whatsoever. Anyways thanks for writing the drivers for it and I hope that
you can fix this in later versions so that other people can use their
printers with no problems. Keep up the great work.
