All right

'cd': change directory. Assuming that your desktop is (for example) is in a
directory called Desktop, you'll have to do:

(1) Type 'cd' (no quotation marks, just the two letters). Hit Return. This
will return to your home directory
(2) Type 'cd Desktop' and hit return.

This assuming your Desktop is located as suggested. If not, change the
settings.

Another suggestion. If you do not know where a file is located, do as follows:

(1) log as root
(2) type 'updatedb'. Wait a moment (maybe a couple of minutes). This will set
up a database of the location of your files.
(3) Now, either as root or as normal user, type 'locate ' followed by the
exact name of your file. The output will tell you where your file is located.
For example, in my Mandriva Linux box:

%%%%%%%%%%%
locate hp-toolbox
/home/guido/Desktop/hp-toolbox.desktop
/usr/share/applications/mandriva-hp-toolbox.desktop
/usr/bin/hp-toolbox
