The error is nothing to be concerned about. I HPLIP will work fine with
it. I believe it's something related to X, but I haven't seen any negative
side effects.

Hi,
I have installed Linux Ubuntu 6.10. HPLIP in may IBM lenovo Z61t.
The default HPLIP in this distribution did not recognize my HP LaserJet
P2015 network printer. So, I have proceeded to install the last version
of HPLIP (1.7.1), which does support this printer. The installation
instructions in http://hplip.sourceforge.net are wonderful. I have
followed all steps:
1. sudo apt-get install build-essential python2.4-dev python2.4-qt3
libcupsys2-dev libsnmp9-dev libjpeg62-dev lsb libtool automake1.9
libusb-dev
2. downloading ...
3. configure ...
4. make ...
5. sudo make install ...
Wonderfully, no error until here, but after doing:
6. sudo hp-setup ...
After doing everything, I have got this error:
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
Major opcode: 145
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device

error: Unable to connect to HPLIP I/O (hpssd).
Alternatively, I have tried to use
Configure your printer using CUPS
to configure my printer. Again following the detailed instructions, I
have created a new printer. Here I don't receive any error as far as I
can see, but, I have no success in getting my network printer to work. I
send jobs to print and nothing happens!!!
Do you have any suggestions?
