PTAL is part of HPOJ, an older, unsupported driver. You can get info on it
here:

http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/

HPOJ is not compatible with HPLIP and must not be running in order for HPLIP
to function properly.

Hello, My G55 does print via parport but does not print via usb. I'm
told I need ptal-init to use usb, but I can't find ptal in my Fedora
Core 5. One response on the 'www.belgeler.linux.sevenler.org' website by
jp said he found the ptal-init in the fc3 distribution as script. His
solution was 'chmod +x scripts/ptal-init cp
scripts/ptal-init/usr/local/bin'. This didn't work. So, how do I get
ptal?
