Hello, My HP Deskjet 690c printing is very streaky so I would like to try to run the printer's nozzle cleaning routine.
I've installed hplip but running hp-toolbox gives me a dialog with a lot of greyed out buttons and the status tab reads "unsupported printer model". Directly running the command hp-clean yields: ============== Using device: hp:/par/DESKJET_690C?device=/dev/parport0 Performing type 0, level 1 cleaning... [ERROR]: Cleaning not needed or supported on this device. ============== However HP's manual for the device indicates that a cleaning routine does exist: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/bpd04245.pdf Further support information: Distro: Kubuntu 6.06 Window manager: KDE 3.5.5 Kernel: Linux tobyjr 2.6.15-28-386 #1 PREEMPT Tue Mar 13 20:49:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux I would attach the result of "$hp-check > hp-check.txt" but the application is not installed on my system. I only have the following hp-*: hp-align hp-colorcal hp-levels hp-photo hp-probe hp-toolbox hp-clean hp-info hp-makeuri hp-print hp-testpage hp-unload Any advice welcomed, Toby ======================= ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
