Hello! I have some questions regarding the hp-check script and opensuse 10.2. Since jsmeix is apparently reading this list, I thought it might be useful to post it only here and not directly into bugzilla, in case not all issues ae opensuse related.
When I run hp-check from the opensuse 10.2 packages (2.7.6) provided by jsmeix I get several warnings and errors. For example: hp-check[6540]: info: :[01mChecking for dependency gcc - GNU Project C and C++ Compiler...[0m hp-check[6540]: error: :NOT FOUND! This is a REQUIRED dependency. Please make sure that this dependency is installed before installing or running HPLIP. Since it is required it should be a dependency of that provided package when installed via YaST, should it not? There are several of these. hp-check[6540]: info: :[01mChecking for dependency libcrypto - OpenSSL cryptographic library...[0m hp-check[6540]: error: :NOT FOUND! This is a REQUIRED dependency. Please make sure that this dependency is installed before installing or running HPLIP. openssl is installed, openssl-devel not, so either the check throws a false alarm or it states the wrong missing package. hp-check[6540]: info: :[01mChecking for dependency libpthread - POSIX threads library...[0m hp-check[6540]: error: :NOT FOUND! This is a REQUIRED dependency. Please make sure that this dependency is installed before installing or running HPLIP. hp-check[6540]: info: :To install this dependency, execute this command: hp-check[6540]: info: :xterm -e su -c "yast --install glibc" glibc is isntalled, glibc-devel not. Same issue as with openssl? hp-check[6540]: info: :[01mChecking for dependency python-devel - Python development files...[0m hp-check[6540]: error: :NOT FOUND! This is a REQUIRED dependency. Please make sure that this dependency is installed before installing or running HPLIP. hp-check[6540]: info: :To install this dependency, execute this command: hp-check[6540]: info: :xterm -e su -c "yast --install python-devel python-xml" python-xml is installed, python-devel is not. hp-check[6540]: info: :[01mIs user 'familie' a member of the 'lp' group?[0m hp-check[6540]: info: :Yes (OK) I had to change this manually in YaST.
