for some excellent info on the permissions.  Either add your users to
the lp group, or create or add the correct info to
/etc/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/80-scanner.fdi (10.2 with stock kernel
uses usbraw), then rchal, check permissions with getfacl
/your/hp/usb/device/node, and you should be good to go.  Find your usb
device node with lsusb.  I just rechecked your hp-check.log and you are
a member of lp, so I may be mistaken.
