Check http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=d868aa60707241117x3de413aax8f7940e5da3c4a7a%40mail.gmail.com&forum_name=hplip-help for some excellent info on the permissions. Either add your users to the lp group, or create or add the correct info to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/80-scanner.fdi (10.2 with stock kernel uses usbraw), then rchal, check permissions with getfacl /your/hp/usb/device/node, and you should be good to go. Find your usb device node with lsusb. I just rechecked your hp-check.log and you are a member of lp, so I may be mistaken. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.2 x86_64
