Hi, I didn't get an answer to this so I tried a couple of additional things:
On the server, I modified net.conf and dll.conf to read as follows: [net.conf] localhost 192.168.1.100 [dll.conf] net hpaio Then I tried: $ scanimage -L device `hpaio:/usb/OfficeJet_K80?serial=ES0911401VOH' is a Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet_K80 all-in-one device `net:localhost:hpaio:/usb/OfficeJet_K80?serial=ES0911401VOH' is a Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet_K80 all-in-one However, although I can telnet to port 6566 from a client, scanimage does not find the scanner. I am using hplip-2.7.6 - I found this line in the release notes for hplip-2.7.7, is it the cause of my problems? Can it be fixed by hacking a file in hplip-2.7.6? "5. Removed the localOnly conditional in the sane hpaio backend. This was needed for saned usage."
