Good Day Chris I just spoke with the engineer on how hp-check trys to find packages. Essentially its asks the system for the libraries. So hp-check at this point thinks these are not on your system.
We don't test with RHEL in the lab much, but this week I have been working with RHEL5 a bit. Since I didn't have a install number or redhat network access I was using a 6 disk install media. I was also using RPM to install my packages. So...well first things first I suppose. Does hp-check finish its output? If so can you send the whole output. Also tell me about your install process. You said manual...do you remember your configure command? You could also run an 'rpm -qp | grep "your new packages"' and see if rpm thinks they are there. I'll try and find some RHEL4 disks and see if I can reproduce something here. It will take me a little bit to track those down and create a clone. Thanks so far. jh Chris Tanner wrote: > I am running RHEL 4 and I'm trying to setup a network HP Laser P3005dn. > Prior to installing, I ran up2date and installed the following packages: > net-snmp-devel-5.1.2-11.EL4.10.0.1 > PyQt-3.13.1 > PyQt-devel-3.13-1 > qt-devel-3.3.3-13.RHEL4 > sip-devel-4.1-1 > xsane-0.92-13 > > I did a manual install of hplip via the instructions online and > everything was built and installed fine.
