We have never tested HPLIP on Solaris and they HPLIP was not written with
Solaris in mind, but if you can get the GNU compiler suite installed and
working (gcc, libtool, auto*, etc) you should be able to compile the
sources. Solaris would have to support a compatible implementation of libusb
and there are a number of compile and runtime dependencies that would need
to be satisfied as well.

My guess is that, with some work, it should be possible. If you make an
attempt, let us know how it goes.

(BTW, for just printing, I believe that someone has already ported HPIJS
only to Solaris. Check Google...)
