Guys, hi!
I am running Ubuntu 7.03 (Feisty). HPLIP version is 1.7.3.
My printer is a PhotoSmart 7260.
Strangely, hp-check crashes (output attached) and most of the other hp*
utilities have trouble communicating with the printer:
error: Unable to communicate with device:
hp:/usb/photosmart_7200_series?serial=CN38U3C016I5
error: Error opening device (Device not found). Exiting
Maybe this is related to my problem, maybe not.
I *am* able to print documents however.
My real problem is that when printing photographs with photographic ink
and paper and all related settings set to 'photo', there is a noticeable
blue-shift in the colors, compared to the same photographs printed under
windows. When using the black cartridge the photos come out fine with
respect to color balance, though.
Admittedly my HPLIP version is a rather old but I don't want to install
anything not packaged in a .deb. I *will* be upgrading to Gutsy in a
couple of days though and I hope the new HPLIP version will solve this
problem.
I really hope to find a solution to this, because it's a show-stopper
for me, and I've even started considering going back to xp for that
computer...
Thanks in advance,
Panayiotis
