Probably your distro (you didn't say which one) doesn't have the ppd for it yet. have you tried the linuxprinting.org site?
You should get the ppd found there: http://www.openprinting.org/ppd-o-matic.cgi?driver=hpijs&printer=HP-PhotoSmart_C4200&show=0 Which should support your model.
