Jonathan,

I have had desktop working for some time but tts is still flaky because
of the sound-driver issues.

I am working on some code which will convert espeak to render audio
directly on the GPU and stabilize things and prevent kernel oops
crashes. I have not taken desktop development any further until this is
fixed because flaky tts with either alsa or speech-dispatcher using
pulse will bring the thing crashing into a heap.

It just isn't stable using the Broadcom sound driver.
