When it comes to janitorial duties I could help out. As a developer, sysadmin and almost a YouTuber I might have some skills that could be useful. But I would say that I'm a second choice as I already have a lot on my plate. So if anyone want it they should do it rather than me but if no one offers I will make an effort.

I'll paste the official word on what the Janitors do below, but there is no application form for starting to become a Janitor. Just pick up a mop and start.

I think Dave will agree that posting the shows is pretty much streamlined now except for formatting of the show notes. That was something that I could not standardise, and it's something Dave has made great strides with but help on that would be appreciated. We were also thinking about some sort of preview of your shownotes before submission might help. If someone want's to pick up that mess feel free to.

If coding, website design, code, audio processing etc is your thing then have a look at the list of open tickets on https://repo.anhonesthost.net/. All the code and database is up there, you just need to create an account for security reasons.

If communication/marketing/management is more your bag, listen to the shows and add constructive comment, join the Community news show, attend events representing HPR, give/arrange talks/interviews about HPR, arrange to order stickers/posters/banners/booth kits etc.

Those are just the mops that I can think of, but feel free to bring your own. Anything that betters the community for others is a win.

From the About page https://hackerpublicradio.org/about.html#governance

   Governance. <https://hackerpublicradio.org/about.html#governance>

HPR is entirely community driven. Policy decisions are proposed and discussed on the Mailing list <https://hackerpublicradio.org/maillist>, which is open to anyone to join. Mailing list discussions are brought to the attention of the listening community on the first Monday of the month in the HPR Community News <https://hackerpublicradio.org/series/0047.html> show. This show is also open to anyone <https://hackerpublicradio.org/recording.html#round_table> to participate in. The schedule for the Community News shows can be downloaded as an iCal calendar <https://hackerpublicradio.org/HPR_Community_News_schedule.ics> containing recording dates for the next 12 months. A reminder is also sent to the mailing list in the week before the recording.

Our hosting is kindly provided to us by Josh Knapp <https://hackerpublicradio.org/correspondents/0174.html> from AnHonestHost.com <https://anhonesthost.com/hosting/shared-hosting>, and he has the last word in issues related to site security. *A changing team of volunteers called the "admins" or "Janitors", deal with the day to day operation of HPR. Acting as the first point of contact, processing the shows, coordinating policy discussions, removing spam, updating the website, etc.* They are contactable via the email account admin @ HPR. They have no more say over policy than anyone else. Anyone who has shown a long term dedication to the project and is trusted by the community, can become an admin.
