The next Community News will be recorded using Mumble on Friday, June 28 2024 between 15:00 (UTC) and 17:00 (UTC) in the 'HPR' room on chatter.skyehaven.net port 64738.

During the recording HPR Volunteers will review the shows released during June 2024, they will read comments submitted during that month, as well as summarising email sent to the HPR mailing list.

All HPR listeners are welcome to join in, but we ask that you listen to all the shows in June before you do so.

Occasionally, due to local factors, we might need to change the time, or even the date, without warning. If you're planning on joining in it might be a good idea to let us know in advance - email [email protected]. Then we can contact you with the new schedule in the rare event that we have to make a change.

The notes for the recording are an extended version of the show notes. These extended elements are removed before the show is made fully available on the HPR site (and on archive.org). Comments which might have been missed in the last recording will be marked in red. Comments which would normally be in this month, but which were read out in the last show are marked in green. Comments made in the past month to older shows will be displayed in full (so they are easier to read).

The "Any Other Business" part of the notes this month contains a request for assistance:

Developing new static feeds

RSS feeds are currently being created in real time on hub.hackerpublicradio.org. The plan has always been to make all feeds static, generated by the site-generator script in the hpr_generator repository.

Changing RSS feeds is a dangerous process in that feed readers, podcatchers and so on can be triggered by what appear like insignificant changes, making them download files that have already been downloaded, even though they are the not different.

Work is ongoing to produce new (static) feeds, but they will need extensive testing before they can be released to the world at large.

To do this we will need testers, so it would be appreciated if we could call upon volunteers to assist with this process.
