I wanted to reply via the comments section to this latest show ... But I got an error code when I posted the reply. I guess i just proved my theory that the comment system is outdated. The fact i have to submit this via a mailinglist is ironic at best

First up : RESPECT:Thank you for your show. I am honored that my small show has created so much comments and feedback. In my plea that we do not have enough interaction, i have created more responses and response shows than any host in the last year.

*Going a blow by blow of your comments.*

*** Social media = Your competitors?
1: no, social media platforms are a way to get new listeners/hosts.
2: the alternatives we have
- the comments field to the post: Outdated
- the mailing list: Even more outdated
- recording a show : Too big of an effort for 90% of the listeners
- the matrix channel: not even promoted on the intro/outtro. (so we DONT even promote the ways of being a community)

*** Listener to host conversion?  I would like to do a survey on ALL our hosts asking who RECORDED a show before ever having LISTENED to a show is even lower then 0.01% Saying we dont need listeners to have hosts is just plain incorrect.

*** Value of listeners: audience and popularity ARE important. The goal of the community is to get the tech ideas out there. Not mumble into the void. I don't want 'likes" but i DO want to make a difference to somebody.

*** The reserve cue = our life support system. Its a sign that we are NOT doing the right thing to entice people to join the community and record the show.

*** burned out hosts: Well yes! of course hosts burn out. There is no feedback, not community .. They are screaming into the void. If I want to talk tech to somebody who doesn't listen, i'll ramble at my dog.

*** Guilt by association: As the bar to contribution gets lower and lower due to fewer hosts/shows, the risk of a show with controversial topics rises. Being associated as a host means that you are affiliated with whatever is put ou there. That is indeed a serious risk to somebody's image/reputation since the internet never forgets.

*In conclusion.*

It seriously sounds like we are locking up the monastery and preaching the choir. And you don't even care if anyone listens anymore. What i sense from this episode is that we are in fact not a community, we are a monastery that it ruled by the vocal few who stick to the course even if water is flooding the deck. The only thing to me that will existentially change the future of HPR is the airing of its last episode. I have done my bit for king and country and will shortly be submitting my last response show before signing off as a host. This isn't because you disagree with my views, this will be because (as many before me) I feel like i'm burned out not from tilting windmills, but from shouting into the void.
