Hi there!
I'm one of the technical writers looking for a project to volunteer my
time in for Google's 2019 season of docs. HPX grabbed my interest
because it is a C++ library, which is a language I am currently
learning. I'm reaching out to get in touch with anyone on the team who'd
be willing to talk with me for a deeper dive on the kind of project we
could do for this season.
To give a quick rundown of myself, I'm a technical writer based in
Seattle, Washington. I work indirectly for Microsoft as a permanent
contractor on their Global Datacenter program. Most of what I write is
related to physical processes? (Security, Infrastructure, Safety, and so
on) but I am interested in doing more documentation for a developer
audience.?
I'm very accustomed to working with contributors to improve content
through co-authoring, email, or calls as necessary. As far as your
documentation goes, i'm not familiar with RestructuredText but am happy
to learn, especially if it's as quick to pick up as your site says. And
as mentioned, I have some beginner's familiarity with C++ that I plan to
expand over the summer, both through my own learning and as part of this
project. I think editing the existing content in your manual would be a
good place for someone like me to start, at a brief glance I would look
at the "HPX Build System" topic as a place to start since it appears to
contain a large amount of information right off the bat. I think I could
select additional sections better after cutting my teeth on that one,
but i'm happy to listen if there's a particular area that's been a
challenge for users.
If you're still looking for volunteers, please contact me when you get a
chance so we can see if our goals and availability are a match for one
another's needs. Hope to hear from you soon!
Best Regards,
Michael Benavidez
