For immediate considerations please send profiles to *[email protected]* * * *Position: Linux Enterprise Architect* *Location: Huntsville, TX* *Duration: 6 Months* *Rate: Open* * * *Job Description:* The Linux Enterprise Architect will be responsible for the design and implementation of Linux servers, Linux thin clients, and open source solutions in support of the Linux infrastructure. - Minimum 8 years experience with Linux; some Suse Linux required. - Minimum of 2 years recent experience with Linux in clustered environments. - Novell Certified Linux Engineer preferred. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) a plus. All certifications considered. - Experience with: o X Windows o LDAP o SSH/SFTP o NX / FreeNX o CUPS o HTTP/HTTPS o MySQL o DNS o DHCP o NTP o SNMP - Experience managing users in a Linux environment; password aging, groups, disk quotas, etc. - Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux security and best practices. Knowledge of data security standards. - Building custom kernels from source, replacing parts of the OS from source. - Compiling and installing open source software (from source code). - Customizing open source software, and modifying source code written in C and C++ - Packing and unpacking squashfs file systems; customizing flash code to be loaded on embedded systems. - Experience deploying and managing thin clients (embedded systems running Linux intended to replace desktops) - Automating and building tools using scripting languages (sh, ksh, perl, etc) - Understands the concepts of server virtualization and proficient with at least one of: VMware, Xen, KVM - Experience using, configuring, and supporting Open Office. - Can proficiently use package management tools (rpm, yast, yum, zypper, etc) and have setup and run package repositories before. - Can set up and maintain open source tools for monitoring and trending (Cacti, Zabbix, Nagios, etc) - Experience creating and managing system documentation, including configurations and backup procedures.
