As we have not yet studied this possibility, it's not easy to tell. There could be lots of issues related to this. I suggest that you first find out a bit more about database capabilities that are required for it to be wrapped as an XAResource. I suppose the actual writing of the code shouldn't be _too_ difficult. The new jdbc driver for Firebird (JayBird) is the only XA capable driver I know of. But as this driver is not wrapped around an existing JDBC interface, it may not be the sort of thing we might be doing (or we may find out it's better to do it that way). Perhaps you can also have a look at its sources.
