I am a new user of hsqldb, and I wanted to introduce myself to the list.

I have been programming in Java for about a year and a half, and I am
still a rookie. I am just beginning to learn C++, PHP, and have been
working with MySQL the past few weeks.

I also work quite extensively with OpenOffice, which has recently
adopted hsqldb as it's internal database. That is how I stumbled upon
the hsqldb project. I was excited to find an opensource database
written in Java, my primary development language.

During the daytime I work as a Land Surveyor, and I only program in
the dark, dark shadows. :]

I am particularly interested in how hsqldb integrates with open
office, and also in using hsqldb as the foundation for a geodatabase
to work with the open source GIS program JUMP, which is also written
in Java.

Has any work been done on spatially enabling hsqldb, or on using it as
a geodatabase? If so, I would like to contribute to those efforts.

I look forward to working with hsqldb and I hope I have the
opportunity to contribute some improvements to the program.

The Sunburned Surveyor
