OK, I've put in some configure changes and I'd like to know if I've fixed
the regex segfaults on BSD-type machines. If not, could someone send me
the config.log from their machine so I can put in a direct "run" test for
configure to catch the segfault?

Also, I've made --disable-shared the default on most platforms, which is
everything except Linux and *BSD. If you could get shared libraries to
work before, please let me know what the htdig/config.guess script returns
on your platform.
