Hello,
I am working with a client that is interested in using htDig, but has
a requirement for proximity queries, e.g.:
burt within 5 of ernie
or
burt near ernie
I realize that htDig does not currently index work position information
so there is no basis for computing the answers to such queries.
My question is -- is this a current project for anyone? If not, would
anyone be interested in adding this feature to htDig at this time?
The client is interested in contracting someone to build this feature
into htDig -- if the price is reasonable. Rather than license a commercial
engine, they would like to leverage the existing work on htDig and use this
as an opportunity to incorporate a new feature (and one that has been on the
wish list for a long time!).
I have a very good practical and theoretical understanding of search
engines. However I do not have the historical depth in experience
with the htDig design and codebase to feel comfortable that I could
personally make the right design and implementation choices without
investing too much time on the learning curve. Ideally someone with
existing expertise would be interested in this project....
I do not monitor this list (a problem of human bandwidth), so please
