what does 'htpurge' mean here?  Did you start with a empty index via
'htdig -i'?

Do you get this error during searching?

What exactly are you using htpurge to do?

If the page is corrupted you will be able to find the error using the
correct search string with htsearch.

Another idea is to do the dig and use htdump to dump the WordDB, that
should also duplicate the error if the page is truly corrupted.

If you can't duplicate the error with htsearch or htdump then htpurge is
doing something funky.
