  I have a small patch to EndingsDB.cc & Synonym.cc that used a
function-based filecopy rather than the 'system()' call we do now.

  I can commit this anytime.  When I initially proposed this change there
was some push-back w.r.t 'if-it-aint-broke-dont-fix-it'.

  I changed it in my personal tree to fix an issue with native Win32
support.  If there is no opposition I will commit the patch.
