During my time at collage we had an information
retrieval
course. During this course we had to make a project
(the duration was
something like two months and we were four person in
the project
team).

To complete this project we had to develop a computer
program. This
program made use of an inverted index. We looked at
Mifluz, but it
seemed too complex to use. Therefore, we made our own
inverted
index. Basically, we downloaded a bunch of files using
Wget and
indexed those files.

If there had been a tutorial of how to use Mifluz in
our own project,
we would probably have used Mifluz. This would have
given us insight
into how Mifluz works. This would have increased the
chance that we
would later contribute to the development of Mifluz.

A likewise argumentation could be made for ht://Dig. I
have therefore
made a tutorial for people who are to make an
information retrieval
project and considers using ht://Dig for the indexing
and inverted
index -part. This tutorial is attached.

The collage I went to, still has an information
retrieval class and it
seems very likely that the people attending, would be
interested in
such a tutorial.

I would like to receive comments on the tutorial and
comments on this
way of attacking attention to the ht://Dig project.
