I'm going to need to update the developer FAQ, I think. When you use
libtool, the "binaries" that you compile are actually scripts that load
the libraries for you until you run a "make install." So if you want to
run something inside gdb, you'll need:

libtool gdb htdig
[...]
(gdb) run

Or you can build w/o shared libraries by compiling with --disabled-shared
and you'll get more typical binaries.
