I'm trying to install ht/dig on a shared server at a hosting service,
without root or GCC access. The target is i586, Linux 2.0.27,
distro unknown.
I FTPd the htdig 3.1 binary over, and tried an install with
RPM. RPM, though, wants to see the system package directory,
("error: cannot open //var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm "),
which this system doesn't have. (It does have an ancient
"/var/lib/rpm/packages", dated December 29, 1995).
Any hints?
