In my experience, this has to do with multiple ways that a URL is
described. For example, when the server provides a default page for
a directory, you can refer to it with just the directory name
(www.example.com/dir/) or the default page name
(www.example.com/dir/index.html). Some search engines will treat
this as two different pages, I don't remember about ht://Dig. Other
duplicate problems involve capitalization and the ever-problematic
sym links.
If you give me a URL of the search page, especially of a search
result with redundant listings, I might be able to track down some of
your problems.
