To clarify, here is the result of the "host" command...
$ host htdig.sourceforge.net
htdig.sourceforge.net is a nickname for usw-pr-web.sourceforge.net
usw-pr-web.sourceforge.net has address 216.136.171.201
usw-pr-web.sourceforge.net mail is handled (pri=10) by mail.sourceforge.net
usw-pr-web.sourceforge.net mail is handled (pri=15) by externalmx.valinux.com
$ host ftp.htdig.org
ftp.htdig.org is a nickname for shell1.sourceforge.net
shell1.sourceforge.net is a nickname for usw-pr-vhost.sourceforge.net
usw-pr-vhost.sourceforge.net has address 216.136.171.204
usw-pr-vhost.sourceforge.net mail is handled (pri=15) by externalmx.valinux.com
usw-pr-vhost.sourceforge.net mail is handled (pri=10) by mail.sourceforge.net
$
To me, the solution is obvious: change the "nickname", i.e. the CNAME
record for "ftp" in the htdig.org DNS table, from "shell1.sourceforge.net"
to "htdig.sourceforge.net". What isn't obvious to me is why this wasn't
done in the first place, and who we contact to make the change.
