That worked! Thank you very much :) I have to test it during a dig, but I get the right output from doc2html now, so it should be good.
This is the word2x home page:
It is GPLed. I just downloaded it and compiled it for cygwin.
Note that to get output to stdout you need to do
word2x filename.doc \-
or else you'll get a text file by default, filename.txt.
I haven't tested very many Word documents with it yet, so I can't totally sing its praises (yet). I'll know after the first dig with it.

Doc2html.pl requires a minimum of two parameters to work, it must have the MIME-type.
Try:
$ /usr/local/bin/doc2html.pl //c/air31.doc application/msword
Can you tell us a bit more about word2x? What platforms will it run on, and where can one get it?
I would like to include support for it in the next version of doc2html.
