The only context in which I've seen this error reported before was when
a user had spaces before the "#" in comment lines.  The lexical analyser
for config files in 3.2 doesn't seem very tolerant of leading spaces.
However, I don't see any in the snippet above.  Check your conf file
carefully, though, for any leading spaces or perhaps some control
characters in any of the first several lines.
