OK, we all should be aware of how htdig follows links to "dig" a site. And
hopefully we all
understand how Meta-Tags are used by spiders. What I'm wondering about is
how this process
would be impacted by having lots of content on a site that is created using
Cold Fusion.
I'm not talking about query forms and database lookup stuff, but rather just
some basic pages
that make extensive use of Cold Fusions <cfinclude> ... </cfinclude> tags to
allow using
standard headers and footers in wholesale fashion for hundreds of pages.
If anyone is missing the point here, it is that assembling pages this way
(eg, in Cold Fusion)
means that the pages that are actually delivered to the users Browser never
exist on the web
server as "complete" files, just pieces that are assempled at "run time" by
the Cold Fusion
server. One of the significant facts that plays into this is that if I am
using a standard header
file (eg, "header.cfm") and including it in several documents, then it would
seem that I am
now unable to make use of the META-tags that would normally be part of the
<HEAD> section
of my static HTML file, since the common header could not contain tags that
are truly
descriptive of each document.
Have any of you any practical experience with with htDig and Cold Fusion
files? Am I missing
something obvious? Not so obvious?
