The other possibility is that htmerge is running out of disk space while
sorting the wordlist. It needs enough space to hold 3 copies of it while
sorting (the original, the sort temporaries, and the final version). So,
even if it looks like you have a lot of free space after the fact, you may
not have enough for all copies. It sure sounds to me like the final, sorted
copy of the db.wordlist got truncated. What's the last record in there?
