Yes, that will work, though it won't be the most efficient method. You may
want to take a look at the rundig.sh script that I wrote:

Well, you don't want another htdig or htmerge process running. But
ht://Dig (the package) doesn't need to be shut down--in particular if you
are working with .work versions of the databases, then htsearch will keep
motoring right along.
