I tried that, and my browser hung after downloading over 4 MB of search
results without displaying anything.  Forget this approach.

The URLs you posted above got hopelessly mangled by your mail software,
so I can't make any sense of them.

With 3.1.5 you shouldn't even need a wrapper script around htsearch, as
you can now pass the queury string directly to htsearch as a command line
argument.  In any case, carefully check your wrapper shell script and your
PHP script to make sure you're not adding spaces anywhere in the query
string yourself.  Colin's article never deals with how to handle the
page list for follow-up pages, so I don't know how you implemented that.
