OK, I've gotten 3 private replies on this, so I'm taking it back to the
list to avoid a whole lot more.

I looked back through some saved mail I had, and I realized that I had
subscribed to the new htdig-bugs mailing list on January 22. My first
hunch was that this must have been the reason I have been getting the
monthly reminders. Oddly, though, the password in the monthly reminders
was different from the one I got in the confirmation message when I
subscribed. I did some digging around on the list administration on
SourceForge, and read my reminder message more carefully.

It turns out that only subscribers to htdig-updates get monthly reminders.
All other htdig lists have that option turned off. I'll turn it on for
the other lists, and hopefully that'll solve this problem. The Mailman
list manager software is supposed to be smart enough to send only
one e-mail per month to each subscriber, itemizing all the lists that
subscriber is on, so I don't expect to get a lot of complaints about this.
