Yes, I agree this is a wrinkle. But this was also an intentional 
decision to use the global case_sensitive. If someone wants a more 
complex pattern, they can specify it themselves, or use multiple 
config files as well.

The slowdown from recompiling patterns is obviously a serious concern.
