Well, this might explain what is happening. Are you saying it should be backed up before indexing and restored after to make sure it is not changes or can it be merged??

Make sure you keep your db.wordlist file around too. While it's not needed by htsearch, it most certainly is needed for update runs of htdig. Otherwise, htdig will generate a new word list containing only the words of updated documents. -- Gilles R.
