Yes, the 3.2 snapshots rotate off after about a month, while the 3.1.6 snapshot is only the latest one. We have to keep our space usage down, and there's usually little value in keeping old snapshots. > a BIG thank you to all you very patient people who helped me till i'm sure > you were blue! ;) > > ok, couple questions: > 1) is there on the site some example on the cron rundig commands? If you mean sample crontab entries, no, you should refer to your crontab documentation for that. The "man crontab" command will ususally get it for you. There are different ways of doing it on different platforms. Some systems have a central crontab file, others have private files for individual users, and many systems now have both. Some systems also have directories in which you can drop shell scripts to be run hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. You have to figure out and choose what works best on your system. In any case, what you usually do is set up a little script that runs the commands you want, or just use "rundig" if you want to rebuild from scratch each time, and run that script from your crontab or cron job directory. > 2) is there on the site some example of using htnotify in the simplest of > terms and basic setup? Yes, from the menu on the left on the htdig.org web site, select either the "META tags" or "htnotify" page (it wouldn't hurt to read both), and from either of these follow the link to the Email notification service page. > 3) what does the asterisks mean in search results, e.g., "administration, > and maintenance of existing websites * Olivia ...." It means the document had either an asterisk or an <li> tag at that location. -- Gilles R.
