Oh, I already wondered for what this '&' in the context of variables stands for ...
This seem to be the right way to use it.

Yes, that sounds really interesting.
Unfortunatly the only file I found was the readme for this (contrib/xmlsearch.README). 
Am I blind or are the files specified in this readme file really absent?

By the way: When do you plan to release the "magic" 3.1.6?
